harry ...thats eastern gardiner's bay. its the body of water north of where i live. if you go east from greenport you also wind up there. it eventually becomes the block island sound and then the atlantic. so its open to any atlantic fish ... sharks and dolphins have been seen often. its salt water....

my sea ray...a 22 foot ski boat, came with fenders more appropriate for my friends 60 foot bertram. 3 of em. i still use them for rafting up the bertram.

no problem.....i used to do it with a few friends and their boats quite a bit. it really is fun if you are in the middle of nowhere, the water is warm and clear and some fish are biting. oh...and there's lots of beer etc. about 30 bertrams in a circle would be a hoot.

i caught a bunch of atlantic salmon this summer with flies tied by my friend peter. he got a real kick out of it because i had NO idea what i was doing so he knew they really worked. walter's flies were the ones that worked in panama.

peter...there are 4 public launch spots within 5 minutes of my house....all with great access to gardiner's island. three in 3 mile harbor and one in accabonac. i live two and a half miles from walter...................as the crow flies. ive gone to gardiners in my canoe and kayak....not far at all.

just for the record....i've ascended and descended from mikes bridge in sporty conditions ......piece of cake. the key is the line. at least thats how i do it.
