me too but i was wondering if you could lock up just one side depending on how you pulled it. i used to do 360s all the time in my TVR but i was a lot less precise...A LOT.

you can make a case for keeping a classic car original if thats your thing...... but you are never going to find yourself 100 miles offshore in large waves and have your life depend on it.


i kinda favor doing what i want to do......if i can get away with it.

bob....thats exactly how i restored the austin-healey with one difference. i would remove a component...like the engine or the steering box ...and send it to someone who knew what they were doing. then reassemble. i can take credit for putting it all together but not for actually fixing anything.

i just remember the summer i ran with no reverse. i got into a narrow channel stand off with this guy in a 40 foot clorox bottle that thought i should back up cause he was bigger. i cant get the thought of strolling up to the bow and grabbing the 50 cal out of my mind.

ok...this is getting a little weird. flowers up in the yard....and a fun kayak fish today. no hat, no gloves, T SHIRT. if it wasn't for a stiff breeze coming off the ocean it would have been summer hot. as it was, its mid 70's in mid march. saw an osprey.....earliest ever by far. saw a clammer rakin...

i don't think it would effect buoyancy as surface tension has little to do with it at floating boat scale. now if a hollow BB would float it might sink coated with this stuff. maybe. or float lower.

i never put a front plate on any sports car i owned....thats over 40 years with no problem.(in 4 states) for some reason they don't seem to mind. i always had it with me along with a pre -rehearsed tale of "it just fell off this morning".

UV...my boat trailer has the plate from an 80s vintage motorcycle trailer....wonder where that came from?

i actually have a collection of about 50 plates from 5 or 6 states. my favorite are my old utah plates from my 55 chevy pick up.....the letters are NMA.

first off my 25 inboard had wood stringers. as Patrick pointed out.....absurdly overbuilt. i had to modify one a bit for a heat exchanger.....not fun. the boat is a tank. as to how it sits in the water its not about weight.....its about where the weight is. my scuppers sat well above where they sit ...

needless to say i am a fan of 25s. i spent 3 years looking for the one i finally bought. while there are no "bad" 25s the inboard version is just a different and to my way of thinking ...better boat. in any guise....the best 25 foot boat ever.

i believe the guy you are talking about is paul. when i blew the reverse on one of my V drives i took it to him (after a season with no reverse). he is outstanding and reasonable. if he can't fix it...throw it away.

looks good to me. i love this kind of friendly neighborhood stuff. last night on the news there was a story about the city of NY closing a newsstand thats been in operation in chinatown for 35 years. the problem....it THREE INCHES too close to the building its in front of. 9'3" instead of 9' 6"........

mike love was my landlord in santa barbara. he sent his lawyer over to evict me because "mike doesn't want any hippy surfers living on his property". beach boys is just a band name.....total phonies in that regard...NOT A FAN!

BTW....never missed a rent payment and kept the property like i owned it.

peter.....the danger with backcountry skiing is gravity. if you dont stay above your escape route there is a painful slog in your future....and thats just navigation....most of the attention is focused on avalanche avoidance. its amazingly easy to get disoriented in the woods when the only direction...
