Hey Guys, anyone know how much a Baron 28 weighs?? Got my eye on one and I am trying to estimate shipping.
I will take any guesses too as am about to meet the broker. I can’t find this info anywhere!

Re: Stern hanging rudders on 28
Yup I am looking into these myself as the shaft angle can be reduced even further if props are as far back as possible but still allow for a decent sized wheel to be turned. Thats the theory anyway. Hope it works out. There is a company that makes them. I will try to dig it out.

I Had this issue on my 8LV and it was a rotted out heat exchanger drain plug. Mine was made of copper and it had just deteriorated after 3yrs.
Hopefully your issue is now resolved.

Yup Coosa can't be very strong. There ain't much glass in it by the looks of it. I am hoping that 1/2" structural fiberglass will be stronger than even the plywood.

Hey Bob, just got off the phone with TidesMarine. Guy was saying they recommend the bottom end of the tubes to go right though the hull at the bottom and then be faired off. Recessing the struts
Gentlemen, has anyone had success in recessing the bases of the shafts struts into the hull so that they are flush with it in order to minimise drag? Obviously one would have to fortify the strut backing pad even more than usual!

Yeah I don't think anyone moved them but they look to poke past the stern a couple inches. Isn't that bad ie aeration etc.? I Always thought that the whole of the rudder had to be under the hull to work properly?

I am just concerned about the "new fangled" stuff. I know how the bronze shaft ports work with the packing etc. I don't want to be replacing seals every couple years with something "better".
