Re: Bertram 25 Top Cap modification

After a week's vacation and multiple days of doing nothing due to rain I got working on the boat again last night. I unbolted the front pieces and stripped a couple of the bolts due to being over aggressive with the impact gun and epoxy on the threads which I ended up having to grind off the head of...

Re: New member planning B25 or B26 project. Inboard or IO?

I've had my B25 for over 10 years. Been with I/Os the whole time, the boat rides nice and is fairly fuel efficient at 22-23kts. The motors were mercruiser 3.0L 96 vintage and I had to replace one engine during the time. I trailered the boat and was religious about keeping water out of the bilge and ...

Re: Fishing reports 2018

On vacation this week, 8/6 Nauset / Bearse shoals - caught about 10 bass vertical jigging in 70' in under 30 min then they disappeared. Went to bearse with a livewell full of macs, had a good time feeding bass at the lip of the rips. Nothing large but we caught quite a few of them. It is quite enjoy...

on the topic of molds and getting a release I was thinking of using the space where the old drop down was for a pair of fish boxes. I was thinking of using a large diameter sonotube as a mold to get a tube which could be cut into quarters and act as a corner radius to make the fish boxes easier to c...

no pics tonight but I glued the pieces back on the cabin top. Needed 6 bolts per side to hold it all together tightly, even still the aft area hangs down if not supported. I clamped it up using a set of calls to align the pieces.

Re: B25 filling the transom

here's my dilemma, I'm 95% sure I am going with a notch and a large single motor. cut out 2 pieces yesterday, my template wasn't all that good as I didn't realize it was flexing and the final pieces ended up too big requiring a lot of tuning to get right.

was able to epoxy seal one side of each of them.

epoxy sealed the upper side of the plywood panel yesterday, glued it up today. While test fitting the pieces I couldn't get it to stay together with drywall screws because there is a fair curve in the cabin top. I ended up drilling some holes and using 1/4-20 bolts to hold it together. https://photo...

that is interesting that the boat doesn't want to stay on plane at 26mph. for example, my b25 with twin 3.0L mercruisers at 135 hp a side with 15x17 pitch props, with one motor shut down and trimmed up I could get the boat on plane (the motor didn't like it in any way) and do 16-17 kts. Re: Emblems and eagles for 1963 Moppie Sport Convertible

Your performance numbers with the zuki 300 are promising to me and my project. I would have hoped for a little lower rpm (4300/6300 = 68%) and closer to 10gph cruise, but the numbers you are seeing with a loaded boat are definitely within reasonable range. What are your speed/fuel burn #s when you a...

Bertram 25 Top Cap modification

Cam,

It seems that you've made a lot of progress on your boat since we've last talked.

I don't have an exact measurement but my boat didn't have mid-boat cleats when I bought it, I added a pair of pop-up cleats about 18-24" behind the main bulkhead.
