Ended up cutting off the two bolts and using a cut down adjustable plumbers pipe worked well

Hello Just finishing a 1976 28’ Flybridge total restore, great boat ,great project! Here’s what I tell everyone that asks.... unless you can do most of the work yourself or have deep pockets ....don’t start it , but if ether of those apply the key is it’s a Bertram! Your starting with the right boat...

Here we go......just to add to the topic ....where did you guys place your zincs on the Rudders ....we have new 31 rudders on our 28....look around and see the zincs everywhere ...leading , trailing, center lower upper ???? Based on the shape of the rudder I’m leaning towards the lower leading edge ...

Boat is a total refit and all bonding wiring is new ....it’s in saltwater.....going to go with the rudder zincs ....at this point it won’t hurt.

Ours is a 76’ Bert 28 with the same motors and it does have wedges ....you may find them at Summit Racing

Here’s another question ....on our 28flybridge we replaced the rudders with the larger ones from 31 from Hightide marine ....we have zincs on the trim tabs two on each shaft and a large CAMP mounted on the transom .....is it recommended to drill holes in the new rudders and add zincs there also .......

Thanks for the reply.....picked up a adjustable plumbers wrench used for the sink trap nuts ...going to see it that works.....also we are cutting back two of the bolts so we have better access

Hello all
Anyone know the size of the jam nut and rudder packing cap on a 76’ 28 Bertram? Not near the boat to measure it and picking up a plumbers adjustable wrench. Also has anyone tried using a plumbers combo slip nut wrench on them? We have a custom tank so space is a problem.
