My gauges read 160 at cruising speed, engines fully warmed up. I’m using 160 degree thermostats. The risers should be considerably cooler than the exhaust manifolds sinc...

Carl, That looks like a good way to approach Sailors Haven. There is a serious sand bar just east of the line between the #21 can and # 24 nun. Back when I used to take my sailboat over to Sunken Forest, I had to pull up my centerboard when I hit it. The channel into Sailers Haven is well marked. I ...

That all being said with the small rudders the boat spins on a dime, if you are drift fishing or around the dock and put one motor in forward the bow turns without the boat moving much at all. With large rudders, bigger props and high torque diesels that turning arc becomes much wider and the boat ...

Oversized rudders are an essential upgrade for the 31. I got mine from Bobby Soles Propeller in West Palm Beach. I believe that they used Captain Pat's design. (Others please correct me if I am wrong.) Based on the drawing that they sent me the overall length of the blade i6" long, maximum width 10".

I lean toward Sailor’s Haven. The food at the snack bar is pretty simple when I was there several years ago. I have heard that they have expanded their menu a bit.
Let me know when you are going. My marina is just across the bay from Sailor’s Haven.

Re: Mercruiser 454 Ignition Coils
If there is a ballast resistor in your ignition circuit, you should see significantly less than 12 volts at the coil. Check it with the engine running since some ignition systems have a relay which bypasses the ballast resistor to give the coil a full 12 volts for starting.
