Re: Galley pump
I was able to soften up the rubber seal on the plunger and the rubber cap on the bottom to get the pump to suck water up from the tank. For now it works well enough for my needs.
When I run out of other projects I will look into a pressurized water system.

Any idea who made the original pump for the galley on the Sport Fisherman model? I would like to see if I could get the rubber parts to rebuild mine. Alternatively I would settle for something which would fit in the original hole in the counter top. http://www.ipernity.com/doc/307687/48876456 thanks,

My port engine has a Prestolite IDU 7801BS electronic distributor with a Sierra 18-5433 coil. The label on the coil says it needs an external resistor. With all of the wires connected and the ignition on I meshed 6 volts at the positive terminal on the coil. There are four wires connected to the pos...

Re: Finally floating again
Bob, How does that apply to 454s? I get about 23 knots at 3000 rpm and about 18 knots at 2500. The ride is comfortable throughout that speed range but this is the first power boat that I have owned (second season) so I don't have anything to compare it to. Am I putting more stress on the engines at ...

Filling the fresh water tank
On my boat, it looks like the only way to fill the fresh water tank is to pull up the aft section of the cabin sole, unscrew the cap, and fill it directly. The only fittings that I see on the deck are for filling the gas tank and pumping out the holding tank. Am I missing anything?
Thanks,

I have 454s but the distributors are not original and the port engine has a different distributor than the starboard engine. Based on the voltage I measured at the coil, the port engine appears to have an external ballast resistor while the starboard engine does not.

I found this in the fuel line which runs from my tank to the fuel pump about midway along the passage between the two engines. After all of the references to trolling valves in this thread I looked up to see how they work. If I understand the description correctly, they work by effectively letting the clutch in the transmission slip. Doesn't that put premature wear on the system?

The plugs in there now are NGK BR6FS which cross references to an MR43T. MR41T cross references to R5673-8 which is a hotter plug with a shorter reach (11 mm vs 11.6). Since the engines ran all right with the BR6FS plugs I will stick with them.
