Progressive. I have my homeowner's and car insurance with USAA, but when Suffolk County where I keep my sailboat increased their requirement for liability USAA sent me to Progressive. I have never had a claim with Progressive, but USAA has always been good on claims.

Thanks. Clearance will not be a problem because the coupling is already off. Now I am trying to get the shaft off so that I can get a split coupling fitted.
The starboard shaft will be the more challenging one since the set screw on the coupling are rusted.

When I started digging into my stuffing boxes (traditional type) I discovered that the previous owner’ mechanic had used a section of exhaust hose, clearly labeled as such, instead the proper stuffing box type hose on the starboard side.

Just received an email from Suffolk County (Long Island) telling me that they are delaying the opening of the marina where I dock my sail boat until May 1. I expect that date to slip. The town of Islip has not closed the boat ramp yet, however.

The master battery switch in the trunk of my Austin-Healey also grounds the points-side of the coil to kill the ignition when you shut off the battery. You could do something similar on a boat.

Sorry to hear that.
FWIW, the guys who were driving my boat for her previous owner were running the port engine with a blown heat exchanger when I bought her. After two seasons and about 40 hours running time, I have not seen any evidence of damage to the engine.

The flange puller from Buck Algonquin (part #50MCP00500) worked as expected, considerably better than the harmonic balancer puller that I was using. The four slots matched the bolt holes in the flange and were wide enough so that I could use the bolts that had been holding the two halves of the coup...

Thanks for the encouragement. I’ve been soaking the set screws in Kroil. I picked up some PBblaster which I will try this week.
I have all of the bolts and set screws on the port shaft out so I will do that stuffing box first while I wait for the starboard side to free up.

The bolts on the port engine coupling were not corroded. The challenge there was getting enough leverage in the space between the shaft and the deck. Thanks for the suggestions. I use three wrenches, one on the front, one on the back, and a third as a lever between the other two. So far I have gotten off the four bolts on the port side and one on the starboard side before I had to stop for the day.
