I was thinking that to for someone else I might put it in the dash I can always use the other button for a battery parallel. Not set in stone yet I am lookin at the blue seas stainless button switches I might put them up on the dash. The are nice back lit and have nice labels you can put on.

They were probably layed up with vinalester resin. I believe that is fire retardant. Cool boats my buddy had a uniflite back in the day.

The rub rail has already been removed and a new pvc one will be installed after I paint. The single button is the horn. The two keys are ignition switches.

Thanks guys! Yea working outside does present its challenges but I try to push ahead everyday I have projects for the garage or inside the cabin for rain days and when the weather permits I work outside. I hope in the spring I can make a splash!! The boats name is SNIPE

I got to work a little this weekend drilled the ignition switches and horn into the helm finished mounting the Rollins controls and glassed it into the boat. Then Templated and cut some electronics panels for the sides of the helm so I can put some bigger screens in. I will hopefully get it all glas...

PVC would work I have seen it done I drilled mine on a slight angle in the bulked so I used hose it was easier and I had it lying around.

Rick I am using the original boxes I just have to trim them to fit the new bulked and make some new gutter supports as the wood ones are rotten I will be using black starboard for these so they don’t rot again.

John I went back-and-forth with myself on this as well but I have seen guys just lag bolt into the original mahagony sisters that are only bolted to the stringers and have no issues. This is a good question for sure. In Bobs case I know when I spoke with him one time he said the boat will stay in the family. Tony I wish I painted the engines with awlgrip as well but I only did the gears. The engines are rust-oleum if they don’t hold up well I will just pull them and repaint with awlgrip next time.

Shot the cockpit with 545 over the high build and did a final sand. Also primed the gears with 545 and sprayed awlgrip on the gears. Nice weather up here in the northeast this weekend. Hopefully this week I can spray the bilge and next weekend put the engines in for the last time. http://i.imgur.com...

Looks great Carl. I used to use a few places on states island to make exhaust blankets I can’t remember the names off the top of my head but there are places still over there I would think with all the tug boat companies around.

I second what Cam said I use 3m hook and loop style on all my sanders I bought 3m pads and can get the paper at the local auto store. They also had a 3m sanding block that takes the pads as well. Yannis you got that right! It was a pain in the ass but I think it was worth it. I started out with acetone then switched to a fiberglass paint remover that worked really good. Scraper lots of rags and sand paper.
