Re: Bertram 37, Cat 3208ta’s leaking aftercooler
Well… we walked away from the B37. Beautiful boat outside the engine room. The owner would not extend the contract to “work out” the engine and aftercooler issues. Also wood cored below the waterline is a no go for me. Makes me miss my 35 with the Cummins even more…

Ladies and Gentlemen, This site is like a Family, or better Friends which is Family that we choose to keep. I have been away from this site as I sold my B31 years ago. I the bought a Bertram 35 w/370 Cummins, got an offer I couldn’t refuse and sold it exactly a year ago. God knows we miss that boat,...

Bertram 37, Cat 3208ta’s leaking aftercooler
Hey Folks, I am under contract to purchase a 1990 Bertram 37 with Cat 3208ta’s 375 hp. During the engine survey and the sea trial the engine surveyor found the leaking aftercooler. The oil analysis on the starboard engine also revealed a high Sodium content which indicates the leaking aftercooler as...

I am a huge fan of Cummins! They are bulletproof and parts are cheaper than any other diesel. I have all mechanical 370 Cummins 5.9 BTA’s in my old girl and she flies! I cruise at 24 kts and burn 20 gph, WOT is 31.9 kts. Our Gulf waters rarely allow more than a cruise speed of 24 kts so its perfect....

My B35 is a tank but with 370 Cummins it will push 31.9 knots, and the fuel gauge moves just as fast... but at 24 knots it burns 20 gal/hr. Very economical with 6 or 7 guys and fuel, ice, and the Baitwell full! And that’s about as fast as the comfort zone allows, I love this boat!

Progressive with agreed value is really hard to beat! This is my third year insured with zero claims, and they lowered my rates by 20%. The New Bertram 35, which shadows the old 31 in looks, starts at $950,000.00 for a base price boat. That is $27,142.00 per foot. So at 31 feet that would be a $841,428.00 boat! Look at that in words: Bertram 31 for Eight Hundred and Forty One Thousand, Four Hundred and Twenty Eight Even Dollars. ($8...

You can buy DOW foam insulation kits. The mini splits come charged, so if short copper runs install won’t require an HVAC guy and vacuum pump.
