I thought about that as well. But we are limited on space and that area is so inviting to put something there. I have filled my companionway under deck areas in the bilge. One has a 3 KW pocket transducer and a livewell, washdown pumps. Another has batteries and the most forward area has a bilge pump.

That is good information. It sounds as if my batteries are in the right place. I'm looking for a good place for a tool box and spare parts so the platforms outboard of the engines may be there right place for those. Thanks

I had my larger rudders built by a local guy in SC. He did a great job. If interested, I'll post his contact info. Also Bobby Soles shop does great work. I had them recondition my props. Again great job.

Not all Bertram 31's were made by Bertram. Many were made under license by other boat yards.

That gives me a decent idea on how to handle the cup holder issue. I've ripped out most of the structure in the cockpit and have thought long and hard about rod holders but not cup holders. Rehabbing these boats are complicated.

I know you guys have solved this problem so please help a newbie. Where to put them and what kind did you use.

The cockpit is my biggest issue but the flybridge is also a problem. I have a solution albeit not a good one for the Flybridge. The cockpit is tough.

You have to turn the wheel both ways multiple turns to get the air bubbles worked up to the highest pump fitting. Crack open the fitting and let the air out until the fluid comes out. Make sure you have pressure in the bleed tank first. You may have to go through this process a couple of times. BTW,...

I think you guys are right about the hidden windlass. I need to take a look at one first hand but its probably just a wish.

I'm going back to the surface mount idea. Horizontal or Vertical? What brand? I'm never going to anchor in more than 100' of water.
