Thinking about repowering over the winter need to replace 2 5.0 low profile gasser 230 hp in a 28. Mercruiser offers a V-6 4.5 250 hp anyone have or know someone with these engines?. Not sure if V-8 torque comes into play or not or if it's just hp that will matter. Any input appreciated.

Has anyone used Veranda PVC boards vs Starboard for cockpit panels?. Veranda says it's waterproof, no rot and can be painted just not sure how strong it would be.

Yes been using synthetic oil that is NMMA approved looking to switch to Mobil 1 for a heavier weight.

Took carbs apart found the std side with water in it. Separators clear not sure how water could have gotten in. Port side had water laying on top of the flame arrestor but the ladder sits over it so I got some washers to hopefully keep the water out can't figure out the stb side with no openings...G...

Cam, I think I asked the marina about installing electric pumps but for some reason they told me it was a no go can't remember why I'll revisit it.

Thanks Carl, I have easy access to the shut offs just before the fuel pumps that's why I asked about them as opposed to the tank shut offs and wondered if one or the other made a difference. I'll try both separately.

Thanks for the input, one guy at the marina told me he has been adding Marvel Mystery oil to his gas and thinks it has made a difference. Hey Carl, have you tried the shut offs just before the fuel pumps or just at the tank?. TY again.

Hope a gasser guy can help. Mercruisers with Quadrajets having hard starts after 3 days plus of not running. Next day no problem 1st turn and they will fire up, carbs rebuilt 2 -3 years ago, new plugs and caps and rotors, gas filters. Was thinking replacing anti-siphon valves?. Marina calling it eva...

The 28's are rockers but a nice ride to bad Bertram didn't put maybe a small keel like the 35's wonder if it would have made a difference. Have a fishing buddy that will rock away and be fine but once I move her you don't want to be down wind over the side, go figure.

Good morning all, I have a friend looking at a 28 which I have as well but he asked me if there are any known hull issues like water saturation?. I have not had any problems but not sure if there are common hull problems. I believe he said it is a 73/74.Thanks again for the info.

Thanks Tony ,going to Home Depot to check out FRB panels supposed to be a fiberglass and durable don't know if anyone has used them I heard Azek in the past.

Thanks again, I was trying to figure out how to take the cleats off and don't know if they are screwed in with self tappers or bolted in do happen to remember?. I will probably reinstall them the way they come out.

I had mine installed under my sink and the vent is right by the top self by the galley and vents in the v-berth and head as well. The drain is connected to my sink drain. My 28 is a 74. Hope this helps.

I have a dual and my set up is that the lower helm switches have to be on as well as the switches on the upper helm for me to crank the engines.

I blasted and epoxy coated the bottom and did 1 coat of blue and 2 coats of black Micron CSC in 2016. I have about 6-8 spots with some blue coming thru but the rest of the bottom looks good is it time to paint?. Not sure, the marina told me 2 years is the max I thought I had some guys tell me prior ...

I replaced mine 2 years ago with just a 110 and took off the fridge door and cabin door to get in. I'm in NJ and for most of a day trip will keep everything cold to cool, beers goes on ice anyway. Don't remember the brand but can take a look under the cover. It fit under the std counter with no issu...
