Multiple Bad Ignition coils
I'm stumped! From last season into spring startup, I've gone through 3 coils on my port and 4 on my starboard engine. These are on Mercruiser 454s with Thunderbolt IV distributors. The boat was running kind of rough when I bought it and the plug wires were arcing so I replaced plugs, wires. The coil...

Thanks again for the replies. The boat is an '84 and will be blocked up while I make the repairs.

Stuck Sea Cocks
Hey All, does anybody know who makes this sea cock. The one on my port motor is stuck open. The one on the starboard motor seems very loose but it operates. I've only had ball valves prior to buying this boat. I'll be hauling the boat in the next week or so. Also, is there any advice on servicing th...

Zinc Installation in Heat Exchanger
Hey Everybody. I have my heat exchangers pulled for cleaning and I want to add zincs. Can anyone tell me if they go in the input or output end or does it matter? These are on Merc 454s. Thanks, Dave

Re: Fuel Tank Replacement 30 Express
Thanks for all of the tips. I did end up buying this boat, a 30 Express, no FBC. It seems like the perfect combination of fishing boat and weekender. Job 1 will be to cut the tank out and getting an aluminum tank made. From Virginia Beach, I'm still a good 60 miles from 100 fathoms so I'll still be ...

Fuel Tank Replacement 30 Express
Hey guys, I am looking at purchasing an '84 30 Express. My only concern is the original Fiberglass tank. The owner says he has never used E10 in it. The boat has 500 hours on a re-power and runs great. My concern is that Non-Ethanol gas is a lot harder to get in my area. That being said, I know I'll...
