Keith, I went with a tuna gate not door to keep the structural integrity..any type of door in a 31 would need some serious engineering, hull sides are very thin..BH

Northernlights, quiet, smooth, very well built. My buddy has a nor pro and it sounds like its going to fall apart, hasn't run right for the last two seasons, this year we brought a portable Honda just to have some power at night. BH

Todd if you soda blast you need to neutralize before paint or it wont stick...ask me how I know...had a Mack soda blasted and less than a year later the paint bubbled up, the soda attracts moisture..I used Capt Pats tin foil trick and It worked great..BH

Make the gauges fit your dash. I used the stock cummins panel and rearranged until i got what I was looking for. John, If you have access to the sender mounting location i would run a dowell down to the bottom of the tank and get an accurate measurement. The pickups should be a bit off the bottom, Id go with the sender that is a similar # off the bottom, easier to err on the side of caution..BH

A great day indeed running her down to Greenport with Harry Babb, letting those Cummins push us along at 24 knots just loafing along, jumping waves learning how to trim her down to get the ride just right. Round trip totaled about 170 miles got 47 hours run up on the clocks so far and I am one happy...

Stuart, Id check the depth of the shaft on the coupling. May not be in to the point it was in the past. Rule of thumb is shaft size gap past the strut and no more. BH

Scot, I blasted my 31 with ground corn, took most of the gator gel coat off the I used the awlfair method Capt. Pat suggested. Then I used west system with barrier additive, used about 7 coats, that gave me some material to start the build up process fill, fair, repeat, primer, high build, more fair...

John, Take a close look at the VDO gauges that are in the cummins panel..you will see a red lens in the face of the gauge, look at the back of the gauge and you should see an empty spot or hole. Now look at the idiot lights, the tube that holds the lamp should be the same size as the hole in the gau...

Thanks guys...update.. tomorrow at 9:30am she leaves the barn..I have been straight out working every night till 9 just to get the last million lil details tied up..Ill get plenty of shots letting her see daylight for the first time in seven and a half years..two weeks and she should be wet..BH

John, I took the Cummins panel apart and used the VDO gauges with the exception of tachs and pyrometers (Isspro), took the idiot lights out of the panel and hot glued them into the back of the corresponding gauges (JPs tip).
