Re: Teak Veneer Installation Question
Todd,
The safest varnish removal over veneer will be with an orange oil stripper. Here's an article that sums it up nicely.
I've used Citristrip before with good results. That was on solid wood, but I'd have no reservation if using it on veneer...

Cam, Be aware of the air required to operate these type of tools.... Air Consumption 11.0 cfm @ 90psi is going to require a big 2 stage compressor and, at the minimum, a 150 gallons of tank capacity to keep up with that 11 cfm. 11 cfm equals 82 gpm. What ever size hose goes to the engine, (main or generator), is the size of the full flow ball valve that you'll need. In the case of your main engines, the 1 1/2" I.D. hose going to the raw water pump, dictates you'll need 1 1/2" full flow valves and 1 1/2" through hull fittings. The flanged full f...

Martin, Painting aluminum outriggers, at least in my opinion, would be a disaster. First, you'd have to paint everything fully assembled because once painted the tubes will have changed dimension due to the paint film. Add to that you'd make the riggers heavier and maybe put more strain on the stay ...

The real question IMHO is the starter. If I can simply have the 32 volt starter refurbished as a 24 volt or, if it has the same gear wheel (pinion?) as the OEM 24 volt starter then I'm good. Otherwise I'll have to change the flywheel and that's NOT an option at this time. I kind of doubt that the s...

I do NOT want to rewire the boat. I want to use the existing wires. What can come and bite me in the ass?!... The main problem will be that by reducing the voltage you'll be increasing the current and much of the wiring would have to be increased in size to handle a 12 volt current flow. Failing to...
