Re: New B31 project in Europe
Ok, so I’m a year behind the original schedule, but I’m nearly there. From my list a year ago: Engine install - done (new Yanmar 240s) Generator install - done (new Whisper Power 3.5kw) Steering gear install - done (new everything with large rudders) Paintwork - done (Awlcraft 2000 Ice blue hull, Ma...

I am speaking with a metal fabricator next week regarding a radar arch and bimini set up. Do you have any more pics of your arrangement? Your side handrails look interesting.

Sstephan,
That is exactly the setup I’m fitting at the moment.
What width leaning post is that?
Do you have side screens also?
Do you find the bimini twists or moves when underway in big sea or wind?
Nice picture btw.

Hi, I’m nearing completion of my total rebuild (90% done with 90% to go!) and am thinking about fitting a fighting chair. I would be grateful for any thoughts on best size and type for a 31 cockpit. I am in the process of installing a Frigoboat K35F 12/24v unit with a keel cooler. No cooling pump to run. Uses only 2 amps, and cools 20cu/ft. Anyone had any experience of these?
I have installed a top loading cool box into the galley worktop, with plenty of insulation around it.

Re: Hatch drains
Thanks for the advice Yannis. I have tested them with a hose wash down, and so far so good. No water in the bilges (I have 4 bilges now). I guess it may depend on how good your seals/latches are installed, and how the drainage is set up. I have blocked up the overflow drain from the boxes. That may ...

Marlin,
Thanks, I would be grateful if you could have a word with him. If he could take a pattern from the 31 near him, that would be a really good solution. I could drill and fit when I receive it.
Please let me know if you manage to make contact.
Cheers,

B31 windshield
Hi,
Can anyone suggest where I can get a new complete windscreen for a 31 FBC?
I mistakenly threw out all the fittings and old Perspex when I stripped the boat.
I’m in UK, so would need it shipped.
Any help will be gratefully received.

I put a Whisper Power 3.5 kw (continuous) forward of the fuel tank. They are supposed to be very quiet. It’s very compact and weighs only 68kg (150lbs). I had a shorter tank made, which is higher than the original, so I only lost around 40 litres. https://postimg.org/image/wlw8cg78z/ Will advise onc...

The French are now reaping what they have been sowing on the Côte d'Azur for decades. Overpriced and bad attitude. They deserve it. We have moved our managed yachts out of there this year. That's about €5m turnover per annum they've lost!! Loved the Thatcher vid. She always made absolute sense to me...

Thanks for the input.
The existing system was definitely two dual acting rams.
My problem is that I am fitting High Tide rudders and tiller arms. The new tiller travel is longer, so I need longer ram travel.
I'll go with one larger ram.

Have 85" 1 3/8 A22 shafts on order with 2" wide flexible couplings.
Steering rams - originally had two, one each rudder, but is that necessary? I have a tie bar, so one cylinder should do right?
Anything I should know?
