1962 Interior

I have a couple of cracks in the original faux wood veneer. Should I even consider trying to find a matching veneer to replace the bad panels? Anyone know what the pattern or color's name is? Is working with this stuff easy??

thanks, jp

windlass

A brand new anchor windlass was donated to me recently. It's a long story how I got it (no... it did not fall off a truck.) Real nice, stainless, horizontal, with rope capable wildcat. Made by Anchorlift, a Norweigan company trying to break into the US market. I'm not crazy about adding a pulpit, bu...

It's a fun job, HA.
On my 1962 I found all three threaded aluminum rods corroded off. I guess that is why my front leaked so bad. You will be happy by the time it's over. A good frame really looks good!

spray rails

I have put them on my 31 during the renovation. Boat is still a long way from hitting the H2O. They look great and I believe will help greatly with the bow spray. If you decide to do it, I can give pics and some advice. It looks like I did not use enough fasteners.

I am at the final stages of a full window restoration on an original '62 Sedan. Complete disassembly, sand, etch, prime, paint. (I had the whole top off for the hull /topside paint job.) I can send pics of most of the project. I followed the faithful's recomendations through the whole thing and it w...

Hey UV,
Sure would love a copy of those factory pics. I am putting together a photo album of my 62 Sedan project and they would be a great way to start them off. Maybe you could post them online??

Running Gear

I have seen a product called "Prop Speed". Not sure who makes it, maybe Sea Hawk. It is for underwater metals, has a primer coat and two part top coat. Dries mostly clear, with a slight yellow tint. It is supposed to be so slick that growth cannot adhere. If applied properly, with the correct drying...

rudder leaks

If the rudder stocks are not clean, the packing is not going to last to long because it is trying to seal against a rough surface. Rudders that have been leaking badly for some time tend to have this problem. The only way I know of dealing with it is dropping the rudders and polishing the shafts up ...

Tranny damage from hit

I have had ZF's rebuilt due to a cracked bearing race. Most likely from prop strikes but my owners admited to nothing. The trannys ran fine for years but there was minor vibration and slight oil leakage at the rear seal. An attempted engine alignment revealed the internal damage when the tranny flan...
