Re: Rocking problems on Bertram 28 Flybridge
Yannis- - in my boat the batteries sit on a shelf that bridges across the center V. It is a good 5" off the bottom so water easily flows under. Shelf sits on small tabs I glassed in at the center set of stringers, then glassed shelf to stringers and tabs. Simple and solid, holds 3 batteries, low an...

Engine controls on B28 with Mercruiser
Hi Guys What engine controls did you recommend for a B28 with gas Mercruiser? I was thinking in put both engines in one side with double action engine controls. What pros and cons did you have for that? Right now I have trannys on the left and throttle on the right in two different doble engine cont...

Damn, It will look nice.Preston Burrows wrote:None I've ever seen......B28's transoms are paper thin and fitting a door would entail fairly extensive framing and reinforcement mods.

Google it, they're one of the leading companies worldwide.
Did you have a bank of batteries for that or just a battery for accessories? In my boat I have 3 batteries, one for each motor and one for accessories. I don't know if everybody have the same configuration.

Re: What is your cruising speed?
Cup, when a prop has it, is an extra...."curl" on the trailing edge of the propeller the sort of direct the flow more straight rearward, and allows more forward speed with a propeller, without having the baggage of extra pitch at all rpm. There seems to be a numbering system for how big that curl, ...

Re: What is your cruising speed?
I have 1973 B 28 with crusader 270hp .17x18 prop with a #3 cup and it cruises around 20-21 knots. Do any of you have any cup in your wheels? Last year I had prop shop put a # 7 cup in it and I was cruising 22knots at 2900rpm. Nice speed but my wot was only 3900rmp. so this year I had them drop the ...

Re: Repower Options
I have a 28 with Mercruiser 350 mpi (fuel injection) 2003 and I personally rebuild it. This motors are cheap to repair and maintain. It cruise @3200 rpm 22 knots. If you don't use a lot your boat on long cruises is better be on gas the maintenance is cheap.

Re: Generator in a B28
Fonsim, I also am from PR and have a B28. My Mase IS2500 gen was installed between the engines and it ran a 10,000 btu A/C and a small refrigerator. I believe its better for maintenance compared to either of the sides. A friend of mine has a northern light 5kw to port and is a pain for servicing. I...

I'm in Puerto Rico that the lowest temp in the night is 78F. I need an A/C . I have a Westernbeke 4.5kw but I think is too much and is like 300lbs. But I think that at least I need 3kw generator to run at least(battery charger and a/c) Anyone have this configuration in your boat?

Generator in a B28
Good afternoon
I'm planning to install a power generator in my B28 but I wonder where to install it? I see that some people installed it in the middle of the engines. Could i see some pics of it? Any suggestions?
Thanks

Re: Windless B 28
Capt Rex, here's what I did. First I removed the long and ugly pulpitt. Then I bonded the deck to the hull. http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/ab251/yet15/IMG_20141023_100049_zpsvrkodczw.jpg Then we measured and created this fiberglass base: http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/ab251/yet15/IMG_201410...
