Capt. Patrick, O.K., I've got it now. I thought that there was only a hole for the shaft to go through. On Pam's further inspection, the hole is shaped like an "N" and goes all the way to the bottom of the boat. Building a little wall there shouldn't be a big deal. Thanks for pointing it out for me....

I have a 70 bahia mar and went with a LLC Bertram 31 fiberglass tank. It's a little taller and goes all of the way back to the rear bulkhead. 260 total gals. Seems like a gas boat could do the same, if not a little better, with alumimun or stainless.
