If you can get the right tap, meaning to match the threads, just in case you have a bad thread, you can run a tap up there to clean up the threads. Tony--I have the same minor seeping issue with my Yanmar engine anodes and got the same technician advice--just use a little sealant. I bought a tap th...

no motor cycles and no race corvettes feel like a mushroom in the garden! Bob- I bought my first boat--a 45' Shain Trimmership--years ago from an old timer who had used it a lot but finally aged out. Make a hole (there is a word for it) -- it's 'limber hole'.
In the maritime world there is a specific word for everything on a ship and a lot of the words date back centuries.

Quinn--
You're somewhat in my neck of the woods. I used Keltech Plastics in Tacoma, WA (800-535-8324) for the replacement corner windows in my B31 several years ago and they did an excellent job for a reasonable price. They will need the current windows to use as a pattern.

USCG completed its review of the yacht Nap Tyme and Washington State ferry Chetzamoka (sp?) collision and decided both skippers were at fault--the yacht for failing to keep a proper lookout and the ferry for failing to take timely evasive action. The article at least did not really address right of ...

Hey Dug--what do you mean by "take care of your turbos"? I run Yanmars and the owner's manual really doesn't address turbo maintenance. The local Yanmar dealer just says is to run them up to speed on a regular basis to knock exhaust soot off. The engines have been sweet for 12 years, am I missing so...

During last year’s haulout Amberjack had a pretty good crop of small blisters and goes into the yard next month to deal with them. Back to the replating topic: I've had parts replated by two different companies. The first set was done 12 years ago and still looks great, the second set was 6 years ago and is already looking thin.
They were obviously different plating specifications so it makes sense to get outside references.

Why did you have to tie off the rudder arms to maintain straight ahead position? Wouldn't relieving pressure to the ram allow the rudders to simply weathervane behind the props?

When the engine doesn't have enough load on it all of the fuel is not consumed. The excess goes out the exhaust mixed with soot and forms a black slobber around the exhaust. I'd be careful Hueso. I have a pair of Yanmar 6LP 315's which are great engines but they're high speed technical engines and will have issues if not cared for properly. A sick diesel is an expensive proposition and he's being pretty vague for somebody asking $20K.
