Sandy - Max Wax is a product sold by CX (made by another company but labeled by CX) that is a waxy coating for hard to protect stuff like cast iron rudder flange bearings, shaft couplings, etc. The coating is soft enough to flow back together and "self heal" if scratched. CX says one of their bigges...

Likewise, sorry we missed you. We didn't realize the Prop Stop was open yet and had planned to go over to Morton's....forecast was for light winds but it was blowing pretty good, so was glad to see the PS open. See ya next time, and yaeh, the bubble boats were everywhere, most I've seen in years. Ga...

Mikey - ZF 220A gear lever positon
Mikey - looked at mine today, here is how it works: PORT GEAR, looking from the top. In neutral, the lever end is pointing to the stern, in forward, it is pointing to the port side, away from the prop shaft. STB. GEAR, in neutral, pointing at the stern, in forward, pointing at the stb. side, toward ...

I have three GPS antennas mounted close together in a fore & aft line on the port top of my fb hardtop. The one for the Garmin 2010C is in the middle. I've noticed that when the radar (Raytheon 41X 4' open array) is running, the Garmin will lose signal now & then. The other two antennas next to it w...

I was spending someone else's money, not mine. I sure like my old mechanical 6BTA 250s. Sounds like a contest of who can trinket up their B31 the most - I'll enter AJ: Garmin 2010C with sounder; Raytheon 600 plotter that overlays the radar driven by a stand alone little Garmin; Raytheon 41X 48 mile radar, 4' open array; Raytheon combo GPS/loran that drives a B&G large digit dash displa...

Rick - the only time mine does that sort of thing is when I'm sitting still or just barely moving - the course line will whip around since the boat has to be moving for the unit to calculate which way its going. Another tirck is if you have the sounder black box you can zero in on a spot on the sounder screen and record it as a waypoint and then have that show on the chart and track back on the chart to that spot. I've got the 2010C with the sounder box. I shopped hard a couple of years ago at the FLL show for one thing - visability. The 2010C is far and away the best, even in direct sunlight. Easy to use, accurate, and I don't notice any jumping around using the course up nav. My favorite feature is the gian...

Guess that was my point. CX works by slowly penetrating the pores of the metal, not by coating the surface with a film. I'd like to see how they did the test because CX takes some time to do its stuff. In short, its a penetrant and not a coating. On the other hand, Max Wax is a coating. We all have ...

The CX is a totally different product than the others, operates on a different principle - thin film vs. a coating. If they would have tested Max Wax vs. the others the result would have been different. Once you understand how CX works, its uses and advantages become obvious. It is not axle grease.....

The CX heavy duty is great for stuff like that. The regular is better for electrical and to penetrate. The HD will stay there a long time. Just drop me an email at the office, VLR@RKKDLAW.COM with what you need and a street address and I'll ship it out.

Patrick, thanks for posting the pix of me with the giant bream showing that old guys can still fish, and better yet catch. With the 3126s I'd go with he 900s since the fuel flow would be marginal for the 500s due to the large fuel return to the tank. Remember the diesel engine returns about 2/3 more...

I'll ditto what the Ole Fart suggests. In rec. use, the 500's are fine up to about 300 hp. They are small, easy to install and fool with. I'm a personal advocate of the Algae-X magnetic fuel treatment units because I have kept good fuel logs and have seen a dramatic decrease in filter element change...

Window leak fixed, thanks
Ever since her Katrina bashing AJ's stb. side (its fixed, tinted safety glass) window has leaked.
