Bob - sure is a pretty B31. My view is that the center rigger should be more in the air, say the tip about where the outrigger tips are when stowed. The reason is that most of us pull our shotgun, or long, off the center rigger, so the higher it is the better. Cock your center rigger up about anothe...

OK, got the Coonass vacuum de-bubbler assembled....quart glass jar, a plastic transmission funnel all cleaned up with a foam gasket out of an old outdoor light fixture in the big end, fits perfect over the top of the jar, then the shop vac hose fits perfect over the little end.....time to steel wool...

Well, the Uncle Vic IInternatioanl Invitational 8 will be at the Tropic Star Lodge in Pinas Bay, Panama next year....South Louisiana is just not ready to host it again after Katrina. Maybe someday.... Anyway, I have 15 slots reserved, fishing 3 to a B31 for June....the drill is fly to Panama City on...

Walter, thanks....I did that, but the bubbles seem to come from the brush. One problem might be that I'm using the real slow 209 hardener 'cause I had some left over from the hatch project. I am probably the world's most pitiful painter to make matters worse. I'll get a finer hair brush tomorrow, an...

Need some help again, Faithful. First coat of thinned epoxy came out great, knock-out color, you can see all the annual rings, etc. I put a second coat of un-thinned epoxy on yesterday (yeah, used a cheap brush, probably stirred the epoxy/hardener too much) and got a lot of air bubbles in the finish...

Ditto what Patrick teaches. The only B31 I ever saw up close with prop pockets was the one Classic 31 built outside of WPB. Cat 3116s at 350 hp. Agree a lot of work and money for little gain. Another drawback is your differential steering using just the gears is cut way down, and one of the finest a...

Report on Tony Athen's aftermarket impellers for Cummins
I had installed Tony's redesigned aftermarket impellers in my Sherwood pumps on AJ's 6BTA 250s (pumps were fairly new, say 400 hours) in May of 2005 and had no problems even after the forced layup for 11 months on the hard after Katrina. Last week I noticed a little elevated temp on the port side at...

Epoxy on cypress
I'm getting ready to finish a slab of cypress for a table top....it is a slab cut out of the trunk of the tree about 3" thick and 2x3 feet irregular shape. It had been varnished with a stain at one time and I've sanded that all off down to bare wood. I'm using the West epoxy and a slow hardener. Sho...

We took a long ride on AJ yesterday and I've never seen so many boats on the water in our area.
