New surplus ZF IRM 220As are selling in B&H for about 2500, with an alleged "factory warranty". They are good gears, and rebuilding them is not a bad idea, depending on what's wrong to start the train wreck. Getting someone to fool with them is another issue.

Got some reading glasses with plastic lenses that got all scratched up doing boat stuff....yep, you guessed it: two coats of RejeX and the scratches be's gone. Let the coats cure overnight after you buff the initial haze off, then polish out with a soft cloth.

We know's some stuff here, huh?

It can get in the teens here every decade or so (going on two now, thanks again, Al) so I'd like to have a heat system in place for the engines......

I have a flat spot big enough on the port side of the blocks down pretty low so I'm gonna use the magnet and put them there. I thought hard about having a machine shop fabricate some from stainles...

250s, 1.5 gears, 21x22 three blades, no cup. 5.5 on two, 4 on one. We sometimes tarpon fish real slow and bump in and out of gear. I have the big Capt. Patrick rudders so steering on one is a snap.

I bought my 250 watt Wolverines from Tony Athens at Seaboard Marine in CA (www.sbmar.com). Tony said the 250s are right for the 6B Cummins.

Harry, the Cummins don't have glow plugs and get balky on the start below about 60 degrees.....hard on the starters, batteries, etc.

Prof - thanks for the idea.....I looked at that sheet magnet and it comes in 2" wide.....my 250 watt Wolverines are wider than that as I remember....did you use two strips? Also says max temp is 212F....seems like the pad heater gets hotter than that?
