Catequipt is for sale
After 20 years of faithful stewardship, I have reluctantly decided that the time has come to part ways with Catequipt; a 1982 31' Bertram fly bridge with original 3208T Cat motors with approximately 2000 hours. I am the second owner. Previously she was owned by King Hussein of Jordan and spent her f...

3208 Cat loses fuel prime over winter
I have an 82 Bertram 31 with original 3208 Cats, which I have owned for 18 years. Every spring except for the last 2, the engines have started up as soon as I pushed the start button. The past two years, I have had to bleed the injectors to restore the prime and get the starboard engine to start. Th...

Re: Liberty
This boat is sitting on the hard next to the travel lift at Kennebunkport Marina on route 9 in downtown Kennebunkport. No indication it is for sale. It is a very clean original 1984. Was curious if it is for sale, and what is the asking price.

Re: 3208 Cat Tachometer
Capt. Frank Did you ever determine the number of pulses per revolution your signal generator puts out? Or alternatively, the make of your signal generator? I am vascilating between an IssPro part number R8585MC and a Stewart Warner. In either case, it would be helpful to know the output of the pulse...

3208 Cat Tachometer
I own a 1982 31 Bertram with twin factory installed 3208 Cats. One of the tachometers has stopped working , because the film on the inside of the tachometer glass has fallen on to the pointer. The Tach, which I think was factory installed is an Auto Meter 4000 RPM with a 180 degree dial. The bottom ...

Re: Steering leak
We had a hose break under the deck on the starboard side that we could not access without tearing up the deck. Disconnected the hose at the auto pilot and the rear accumulator, and ran new a new hose under the center of the deck that is totally accessible. Since the old hose is apparently strapped a...

3116 Cats
I can't tell you anything about 3116 Cats, but I love the 3208s. Only problem I have had in 9 years with the Cats is rusted out oil pans. Do the best you can to get a good look underneath the engines. Use a light and a mirror to check the bottom of the pans. It's not the worst problem in the world, ...

Pulling 3208s in water
Capt Frank: For what its worth I just pulled a 3208 to replace an oil pan. We did it on land with a crane from the rear and it was a piece of cake. Sounds to me like there are to many things that can go wrong pulling the motor in the water.
I personally would not try it.
