Returning to my roots - need advice!!!!

Hello B31 friends. I grew up on a B31 in South West Florida. My dad and I actually drove her from Key West to Havana one year (legally). I am in my mid 40s now and live in the Florida Keys with my wife and son. We have owned several boats over the years, however I have always missed my childhood Ber...

Re: Hello again

Good morning gents, Looked at the boat last weekend. Capt Patrick you are correct, the boat was redone very well, your helm was covered and looked amazing!! The pics on yacht word are recent, the boat has been taken care of since she was redone. The owner was there and was very knowledgable about th...

Re: Hello again

Wow, two replies while I was drafting my last reply. I guess the Don Q makes me type slow!!! I will certainly contact Hueso! I was looking on Classificado earlier, but due to my lack of spanish skills (I can order beer) I think I missed them. I will be looking at the boat next Friday or Saturday... ...

Re: Hello again

The fact that I knew somebody here would know this boat is why I love these boats and their owners so much! Thanks for the reply, I will let you all know how the showing goes, and will take some pictures. My son will be the 3rd generation in our family to spend his youth on a 31 Bert, so I am pretty...

Hello again

Hey gents. I joined a few months ago and disappeared (had a baby, started a new job and moved to Puerto Rico). Now that things have subsided a little bit, I am back on the prowl for my 31 Bertram. For starters, found one in San Juan; http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/1962/Bertram-31-convertible-245945...

Re: cummins 18 knot cruise

Thanks, That is real good advice, I guess I just figured wrong that I needed to slow up a bit to deal with the constant 4' slop I am sure to encounter crossing the straights. I like things simple and lower RPM, so been zoning my search for 6bta 250 hp range. What type of power does the hull need to ...

Re: options for helms...

Do any of you guys ever find the singe lever throttle setup, on each side of the helm, difficult if you are needing to change thrust/speed settings while in a turn at the same time? Just asking because I have never run one...

Re: New Member

Thanks for the heads up on local gents! I am going to try and find some old pics of my father's B31 and get them up. Quick question for you guys, we put new 6bta's in her during the project, forget the hp rating. They were great engines, only issue was a blown turbo charger seal on the stb engine du...

Re: New Member

Thanks for saying hi. I will certainly give "Hueso" a shout. We are up in the states for some training over the next few months. But when we get back to PR, I will have to start looking at some of the 31's down there.

Great site! I currently do not own a Bertram 31 or a Bertram for that matter... However I was born and raised on the gulf coast of Florida, and aside from Shamrocks and Boca Grandes, my father and I found a redid a 31 in my late teens with a local marina. I personally put near 1000 hours on the hull...
