I redid my cooling systems 4 years ago. The heat exchanger and oil coolers have zinc anodes that screw in-bolt type rods. How often do you need to check/replace? Does it matter if the boat is kept on a lift?

Rawleigh and Tooeez... Followed both of your suggestions and was finally able to fix it. I used PB Blaster and was able to jam a pipe wrench on the flange part of the packing base. Harry, You understand correctly. The threads inside the nut are buggered. I did remove all the new packing and tried to screw on without packing and only got the two turns on it before it jammed up. Backed it off and decided to pack in some stuffing and screwed it on the two turns until it locked up...

Raleigh, about 1.5" between end of coupling collar and the nut on the box. And the collar on the coupling is about 3.5". That's my delimma. The shaft log and the box are butt matched and joined with the hose, so no room there.

Oh yea, I left out that I had some aluminum cap plates made and topped the stingers at the motor mount points with them for added strength.

My guess would be that the risers have some clogging at the exit side/port before you get to the hoses. Depending on how old your risers are, you might consider replacing them. The two different sets of engines I've had on my B28 are FWC. Both used kits to FWC manifolds with block-off plates between manifolds and risers. Risers are raw water cooled. Expect to get ~3 years (maybe 4) of use out of risers. May get more years out of them depending on how often you use the boat...
