Re: Shaft log size

Oh...the running clearance of shaft to log. At 1/4" all around...it should be good, it will depend on your alignment when glassing log in and how good the boat was blocked. A little twist on land that settles in the water can reduce that 1/4"...toss in some engine movement and hull flex under load.

Re: Shaft log size

Personally, I like a substantial amount of material where the shaft comes through the hull, especially when I'm doing the glassing. I was faced with the choice of going lighter or heavy then recommended on the tubes, as there was limited stock during COV0D. My area has lots of debris, flotsam, and j...

I bought one for my port engine. I'm going to have to have it modified to work for my installation. Another downside of the pole holder table is when stuff falls, it is usually into the water. Not bad if just a drink, not good if the blender... A larger table with a small mount can be fairly flat or have the mount removable from the table making it completely flat and easier to store. Maybe a hing...

Re: Overheating and a question about heat exchanger flow

The way I have understood marine cooling, is the cooling system is JUST adequate. So a 10% blockage reduces your cooling by 10%. The more the engine works the more cooling it needs so running at cruise it needs full flow to properly cool. That said we have to make sure raw water intake is fully open...

My take on what Capt Pat was saying is the Deep- V slices through the water pushing it BOTH Outwards and Back along the bottom. Think of the water coming out from the bottom midship being pushed out and back. The idea of the toe-in is to take advantage of that outwards angle pushing the flowing wate...
