Doug- The boat does not have to be functional as a liveaboard nor does it have to have any purpose but being out of reach of most of the population. It's a toy, a status piece... The fishing is not nearly as good in the Bahamas as Panama but its far better than the US. At certain times of the year its pretty close to being as good. You can fish in your own boat and save quite a bit of money. I could if my boat was in the Bahamas or even in Florida, but a hell of a long ride...

It took 36 hours for the owner to realize this may not be the right boat for them... I have stood by saying gasoline in boats is not a problem for me provided all the precautions are taken...but 1700 gallons of gasoline does have me thinking that is an awful lot of gasoline. The cable bracket needs to be mounted further back. From your picture, the bracket on the motor to cable bracket, you might be able to flip it around the other way. If not, just extend the bracket. Weld a piece, make a new longer one or add an extension plate...piece of metal with a few holes to bolt.

That is the original raw water intake strainer. More than just a cover as it goes thru hull and locked in place on the inside with seacock or large flanged nut with valve screwed on top.

If fuel condition is a possibility can you swap the lines to see if the problem follows? Or run both from the tank giving good performance. Or pull direct from a Jerry jug of good, clean, and fresh fuel.

Are these boats still around as they are lasting that long because of great build quality or maybe because they have lines that still entice, and are extremely functional for many uses. I have two thoughts...maybe more. The strainers with the removable screens are nice as you can open them to verify nothing is in there instead of pulling the whole thing off to check. Something that can also be checked in the water if your one to play under the boat...and not one to drop a screw or ...

I have a shoot thru…. It works, is super ez and great for depth. I do use for fishing, finding structure up to 50-60’ and find it pretty decent. The only thing I liked about having the internal strainers is I could see the water flow by lifting the hatch. Nice feature on the first in water start of the season.

Another thing mentioned is you changed the impellor, wear plate and cam....but how did the rest of the pump housing look? If heavily worn the pump will not pump efficiently as water is skirting between impellor and housing, this means your pump never gets to the maximum flow, which usually means not...

Frank brought up another good point, hose connection. Old hoses get crusty and may not seal to the fittings no matter how tight the clamps. But I think you mentioned they are new…. A pump may not lose efficiency but it may only be capable of pumping so much water because…
