...unless you own a gas station you will want to stay away from the top end for long periods of time. Old or not, gas boat motors can suck lots of fuel fast when those 4 barrels open.

...dirt/dust causing an imbalance in the squirrel cage. Mounts on pump or unit wearing or not secured.

A little vibration can loosen the screws holding the unit or a component down.

I'd try to get a peek at it when shutting down the unit, lots of possibilities.

If you sand it down to the point it’s not jumping out at you then polish / sand / or hit with woven pad for dull grain or whatever to match balance of rail then wax or hit with clear coat or …


Just call it done. Adding a filler that pops can call attention to the area. Just my thought.

Having the boat out of the water half the time should reduce the amount of blisters. Not ever putting boat in the water I would expect would further reduce the blisters. IPA's can be strong at 7%, some are not, some double n triple IPS's can get close to wine in alcohol content.
