Re: Bertram Insiders
I think one thing that kept the old classic Bertram's generally affordable was the spartan interiors. There was no finishing work done in them. They fit the definition of an early glass production boat. All glass edges from the mold were capped with aluminum. All cabinetry was god awful faux teak Fo...

I've seen a few Apreamare's at various ORC docks. Blah. I do not understand the comparison. I also do not understand the comparison to Rolls and Bentley. English luxury has it's own boats. I believe the light blue hull that ol Cadillac had was a ultra rare 28' baron.
Similar strake layout to the Bertram/nautec 31 special... Which is unlike any other Bertram.

Thickened epoxy would be ideal. Make sure you prep the area to receive the epoxy thoroughly, clean everything with denatured alcohol, and it wouldn't hurt to do an initial "primer" application of straight epoxy, or even reduced epoxy so that it creeps into the substrate well. To thicken, I'd use sil...

Happy new year y'all... Browsing CL this morning I came across Capt Kosh's old B31 for sale, for $8500. Pretty affordable purchase price, but she looks like she needs quite a bit of work. Chanse, you got a pic of how bad thew swirls are?
If they were created with one of your lower grit sandpapers, you may need to get back in the paper, but hopefully not.
Another good compound is 3M Imperial. Imperial starts out aggressive and breaks down to a finer grit with use.

John, we recently touched on this in Kevins engine hatch thread. Yeah, its a serious P.I.T.A to sand down that weave. About on par with sanding off bottom paint. The microspheres in the epoxy work fine. The microspheres are porous, but properly primed and topcoated, your good. The rounded keel alone makes it a dangerous hull at speed… a Napier, sharp keel is much more speed friendly. Todd,
You'll still need to sand your teak/mahogany before putting you new finish on there... to 220.
If not, it'll be bumpy with raised grain everywhere, and the new clearcoat will have poor adhesion to the substrate.
