Peter, I use my windows all the time too. Mine are heavy.
I would think gas shocks may be difficult to close; someone may have to go out on deck to push them closed.
I'd put this in the category of "I've go way more stuff to do than figure this out".

What happens when you try to load the chip into the GPS? Does it give you any error codes? Or does it just say "unreadable"? I have an older 740s. I had always used Garmin's Home Port software. But lately it seems they are not investing in that and I will have to go to their Active Captain software....

I'd say try again now and in the month of May for dolphin. Drag some skirts and/or add bonito strips (dolphin love those). I usually fish the ledge back and forth with an average depth of 250'. The tuna may like this as well.

thanks for the explanation Carl. I have been reading manuals and looking at drawings of the Yanamar parts. It appears that the riser is a 2nd piece, some call it a bend that is added first. In South Florida I see a tremendous number of larger open fisherman style boats with multiple outboards. Most are spending time on a lift or a trailer. However when they do get used, those owners seem to want to go very fast to the fishing grounds, which may be as far as across the Gulf Stream 50-60...

Carl, good thoughts on draining the battery. I could see that happening, even on a day trip. ICE ICE BABY for my day trips still seems to be the best thing. And beer tastes so much better while setting in ice.

Rick, that's what my son wants me to do...But I'm more of a traditionalist. My thought is if I'm going to do that to the boat, I could just get a 20' Albury instead of messing with the esthetic.
