I would agree with Peter. I recently too took the plunge on a 38 year old boat. I have admired these boats for many years. I probably would not have finally made the leap without the knowledge of this board and forsight of Capt. Patrick to create this forum. With that said, a lot of the enjoyment we...

Per Pete: "Boating is a constant battle of upkeep, gaining knowledge and spending major amounts of cash. Every once in a while you have the enjoyment of catching fish and drinking a beer with your buddies. The main thing is keeping the other half happy doing something else so you can enjoy your own ...

Giff, maybe we do a Hope Town Rendevous in the future. The fishing is good, the water is crystal clear. My boat will be out there and there are a few other B31's already out there. One is the local charter guy on A Salt Weapon. One of my neighbors has a nice one. The guy that owns Snappas in Marsh H...

Gas Sniffer recommendation - Gas Explosion - Delray Beach
We just had a boat explode a few days ago near here. 2 injuries one death. We are restoring the '73 SF and it's in the yard right now. What is everyone's recommendation on a gas sniffer. Brand/Type/Model, etc. Thanks for the advice. http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/2011-01-06/news/fl-delray-body-ide...

Brew since you are in the seafood biz (or any NY/NJ folks). Did you ever go to a restaurant on the Jersey shore called Morts Port Seafood Bar, maybe in Neptune NJ? Mort was our neighbor in the 70's in Palm Beach County. He retired and sold the restaurant, moved to FL and just fished and cooked seafo...

Randall, the few times I have snowboarded in Brighton Utah, I swore if I grew up near that stuff I would do it more than surfing or skateboarding. Snowboard rides last 10's of minutes, not seconds. You ride up a lift, compare that to any paddle out. There are usually lots of ski bunnies, actually wa...

This picture is just North of Abaco Inn, a spot called Indicas. Cold is a relative term I guess. We all think this is cold weather. If I had to put booties and a hood on I think I would rather go play in the snow. The surf here is nice quite frequently due to the reef bottom and no obstructions betw...

Here's a shot from 2 days ago here in Hope Town, Bahamas. We had about 3 days of this. Today the wind is on shore, but I expect with the new cold front coming soon it will be nice again. http://lh5.ggpht.com/_a70epRvzvfM/TRZJ-t0QaGI/AAAAAAAACV8/OTV32b8utpQ/hope%20town%20surfing%20Christmas%202010.jpg

26's deep v does not flatten out toward the stern as much as the 25 and therefore has a softer ride. The 25 was a Ray Hunt design. The 26 a Napier design, I believe. You can check out some info at www.bertram26.com However this site only has the 82/83 outboard models, there is a link to a survey by ...

Steve's Restoration
I'm just starting to peel the layers off this boat to dial it in. I've got a few cosmetic questions that some of you might be able to help with. I am sure I will find more and more questions that I will post on this thread as I go along. This was the first weekend assessing the boat in the yard. I a...

Lees vs. Rupp Outriggers?
I know this may be like Cummins vs. Yanmar thread. But it may be interesting to hear some of your feedback. I would like to get outriggers for the new boat. It has never had anything mounted and being the purist that I am I don't want to muck it up. My previous boat had Rupps which worked well, howe...

the boat arrived today via C&J Transport. Jim and Cindy did a great job. I would recommend them highly. The boat is now at Murelle Marine in Lantana per the recommendation of Marlin. We just unloaded her this morning. I saw some of you belly aching about the cold weather.... you are right about that...

Patrick, I was hoping to have the boat here before the show. C&J transport will not be able to pick up the boat in Michigan until approximately Nov 2nd. After that I hope to have it in Lantana at the boat yard Marlin suggested. If you are in town toward the end of the show, I may luck out and be abl...
