Re: Insurance buy back
Sorry about your boat. I believe you said you have diesels...however, if you or anyone needs or anyone needs shafts and props I am repowering and would be happy to donate them to anyone who needs due to Hurricane Sandy. I have two sets of 17x20 props, one set just got re tuned at Bobby Soles. They w...

Re: Repower Questions - Help Needed
Bob, for me it's not rediculous. In my area of the Bahamas the only diesel dealer service center is Yanmar. Plus I could still purchase new 240's or new 315's even after the EPA nonsense today or next year. These were the right choice for me, maybe not for everyone else in every situation.

you can call Mastry direct in St. Pete for a much better price on Yanmar 6's.

Re: Repower Questions - Help Needed
Tony, I'm using my existing guages except the tachs. There is a cable Yanmar provided to allow me to use the existing guages...about $50 bucks I recall. They will show up Tuesday. This includes the engines, brackets, and ZF gears, new w/warranties. I liked the numbers I studied on these engines and ...

Re: Repower Questions - Help Needed
John,
I can't tell you anything about the 8's.
I'm doing the 6's right now before they go obsolete.
My pricing was $23.7 each side w/gears.
From what I understand they are discontinuing them like the 4's due to EPA.

Re: Another Repower Question
Peter, I tend to put everything in a spreadsheet. When we finally decided to do a repower I also questioned selling and buying one already with diesels. For us it didn't make sense because we REALLY like our boat how it is today. Aside from the engines it's what we want. If you don't really like the...

Re: Anyone use AIS transponders?
Thanks Mike. I have an Icom VHF as well and we reading about their AIS products to add on to it. Also says you can interface it to your NMEA chartplotter too, which would be cool if you were a competitive fisherman so you could see exactly where people hook up, etc.

Anyone use AIS transponders?
I've been reading up on AIS transponders. It seems like a nice piece of equipment,....As long as everyone else is using it! Curious if many of you use AIS units. Or if it's mainly for communicating with large ships, coast guard, etc. I could see how people in fishing tournaments would find it useful...

I notice you have safetly lines on the rods, great idea, I'd like to do that as well, better than losing a rod overboard.
Looks like a beautiful day out there.

Unfortunately when shit happens it's usually in the middle of the Gulf Stream. Sorry to hear that Marlin. Yes the boat is wet.
