PSS o-ring replacement
When installing new 0 rings in the stainless ring, is it best to use marine grease to lube them? I noticed when disassembling and cleaning one side was lubed and the other side was dried out.

If you are looking at comparing Steyr I noticed in the heading it said 4 steyr. Steyr does make 4 cylinder motors but nothing in the HP range of the aforementioned 6 cylinder motors. Mine are six cylinders. I love them. The other guys are right though. Service is crucial. If you cant get oil filters...

Yeah, the coasties really do not put a great deal of time into federal fisheries. Don't get me wrong they do have patrols on 110's that do nothing but that but the majority of what they do is SAR and homeland security duties. Around here you will not see a samll boat patrol duing fisheries checks. S...

Do it Timmay. My old lady had it done and she can see now. Some people are not candidates for it though. I do not know all of the details other than if your vision is still changing they may tell you to wait a few years. They told one friend of mine that he was not ready for it yet. Kimberly used to...

In Florida you can catch your Federal limits in federal water and return to port. Do not stop and fish on the way back in. Most guys target something such as cobia, which in my neck of the woods is well into federal water. If you have a federal limit and I stop you a mile from the dock, fantastic, g...

Not worried about making it to the lift, definitely enough since it is close by. Just wanted to see if any one figured out the correlations on a wood stick in what half a tank really is when there is 80 or so gallons in there. It is a diesel boat. Also never installed a fuel gauge at this point so I...

165 gallon tank question
Does anyone know what the figures are for depth in inches for the quantity of fuel in the tank? With the shape of the tank it is difficult to determine. I just installed a direct fill in the tank next to the pick-up. I have 5 inches of fuel in the tank at rest. I know it is way too low but I plan on...

Sounds like a decent deal to me. Down here you will not pay less than 110 per hour. the guy doing the work will not be giving you 110 dollars worth of knowledge or labor, then you will have to go back afterwards and fix the screw ups, ie, grease on the bolsters and the list goes on. Can't wait to re...

Only problem is that OJ was charged for murder also. Hopefully other evidence will be found to prove what happened. The possiblity does exist that someone else came aboard and did the deed. Wow, talk about restoration. Where did you put all the screws and how did you label them all for when you are ready to re-assemble? Bottom line for my setup. Generator is good. Think some salt might have been the culprit with receptacle. Never had another reverse polarity isseue. Got the manual for the Marine Air. Despite being a mid 80's model apparently there is some sort of hard start capacitor in it. Took the cover plate off...

Think I am going to stay in the 6-8 gallon zone. I t is not that hard for me to get way offshore around here. Outboard of the port engine seems to be the most logical place. Now that I think of it, the multi meter on the panel read about 127ish which is about the sum of the the readings taken with the handheld meter. Does kind of sound like it may be the gen set. Eddy, Tried both ways a few times and got the same result. In regular mode it still revs up higher when you juice the compressor and will fail after a few seconds if you do not back off. where do you guys think the best place is to mount the tank? When I was doing my gas to diesel swap I had partially installed one under the cockpit next ot the fuel tank on the port side. Yeah, the cord is the standard home depot type cord. I know it is not the right way to do it, but good enough to run low amperage stuff like the battery charger while I am working on the boat. I Never leave it unattended. The shore power source is actually not even the house, it is the neighbors she...
