John: If you use a bucket put a brace across between the handle holes to keep it from collapsing. A tube that your rope will fit through will work well. Make the rope a loop that goes through the handle hole on the bucket, through the pipe and then through the other handle hole rather than tying it ...

My '66 was gas from the factory, but the bronze plate that the fill hose goes into on the front top of the tank was drilled and tapped for a return fitting. It has a pipe plug in it that I use to manually check the fuel level now.

My friend had a 38' Awesome Cat 10 years ago that we posted 116mph on the Garmin GPS with. WE were not offshore with it though. Just in the Chesapeake Bay. It was strange to go that fast sitting down after being used to a triple bolster deep Vee he had before that. Those days are in the past though!!

The bilge pump switches on my boat are hot all of the time. They also have an "off" position that I don't like. The float switch position stays switched while the manual position is only momentary. I think you have good logic to your wiring, but make sure the manual switch is a momentary one and you...

It is probably what is referred to as "Diesel Slobber". When the engine doesn't have enough load on it all of the fuel is not consumed. The excess goes out the exhaust mixed with soot and forms a black slobber around the exhaust. Farmers deal with it all the time on tractors that run low load applic...

I mount all of my pumps head down to protect the motor. I also set up a three way manifold at the inlet of mine so I have hot and cold salt water as well as cold freshwater washdown. Hot saltwater is drawn off the heat exchanger discharge hose. It really helps cleaning up fish guts, etc.

Fire at marina in Urbanna, Va
"B" dock at Port Urbanna (old Hurley's boatyard) burned early this morning. The 911 call was at 3:45. Two liveaboards are missing and presumed dead. 50+ boats, including my father in laws 40 foot sportfish, were destroyed and some of the last large boat (60+ foot) covered slips were destroyed.
