How much snow did everyone get?
Here in the Northern Neck of Virginia they called for 4 to 8 inches and we got 12. It just stopped snowing. I guess I will spend tomorrow on the tractor plowing snow!

Re: Bilge pumps
True, but you can also get a hose nipple that goes in the port so you can leave it hooked up permanently and avoid the sticking plug problem. There may be some reduction in flow, but you have to look at what size your engine driven pump is too. On my 440's the pump isn't that big, so I don't know if...

Re: Bilge drain thru hulls
I have two "regular" size ones (can't remember exactly the size, say 1200-1700gph) in the cabin and at the transom respectively. The transom pump has a light that comes on at both helm stations so I will know I have a problem while running. I also have a Rule 3700 mounted higher in the cabin with an...

Re: Bilge drain thru hulls
Unfortunately, the higher up the hull side the better for the thru hulls. My secondary pump, which is the largest Rule makes exits right up under the rub rail. I don't trust check valves for that although my stern thru hull exits just above the bootstripe.

I was forced to waste a day of my life in a mandatory boating class this summer with my stepson. One guy there asked what happened when there was less water than your boat drew!! My 14 year old stepson almost burst from trying not laugh out loud!

I made mine out of plywood 16 years ago before I found this site. I used a 1/4" router bit with a top bearing to cut the hatches out using templates. I then glassed them and painted them with Awlgrip nonskid. I used Taco aluminum trim around the hatches.

I see the shaft coupling is a split type. Any chance of getting that off? I doubt the transmission coupling is split as well is it?
Heat the bolt stubs up good and apply bees wax to them. As it cools it will draw it in. I use a toilet bowl seal for my wax.

Wow, you really do have a space problem!! Can the bellows compress anymore? I don't know how you will get that off without pulling the shaft! I have used a socket for a spacer between the couplings with longer bolts to remove them before.
