Yannis: They make double pinstriping tape. Both tapes are on the same backing strip. Get this with the spacing in between that you want for your stripe. Apply it and then hand paint the gold stripe in between. Remove double pinstripe and you are done! Like this: https://www.ebay.com/p/3M-Scotchcal-S...

Another old Bertram owner gone!
Billy Rowe, my Godfather who was like a second dad to me, passed away on January 2 at he age of 93. He ordered my B31 new in 1966 to replace a wooden Chris Craft. One day after fishing in the ocean off Virginia Beach the Chris Craft started leaking badly. When he hauled it out a plank fell off the b...

Re: Tool Bag vs Tool Box and where to store them
I store my tools i two tool bags under the helm seat. I also have a tool roll for screwdrivers, adjustable wrenches, etc. I like taking them out to the engine cover and spreading them out so I don't have to run back and forth for tools. Also, with tool bags, you can spray down the interior of them o...

Tony, I believe you are correct about how it is built. What I should have said was that the gel coat where they cleaned up the seam area is thick. i know on my boat I have stress cracks up the center of the transom and up the stem. We need pictures from the inside. It is possible that they put some ...

Re: silly question??
The transom should be solid fiberglass. These were build in two halves and glassed together. The gel coat on the transom over the joint is usually too thick and gets stress cracks in it. If that is what it is they are purely cosmetic and do not need an major repair.

They die within sight of the cup! Very fast. I don't know what is in it, but farmers used to use it a lot. It may have been reformulated, like so much is these days, but it is worth a try! Just be careful of pets and non-target species with it!

Golden Malrin fly bait mixed in a little Coke in a cup will take care of them! Don't get caught using it though! Be sure to put it where other animals cannot get to it.

You can carefully spray carb clean or other flammable solvent around the gasket area while running to check for the gasket leaks Bruce mentioned. If the leak sucks the solvent in teh mixture will richen up momentarily and the engine will idle up.

I have had the log type manifolds on my Chryslers since 1966 with no problems. Any leakage would occur behind and below the ports with those. If your engines are high enough above the waterline those are what I would use since they are failsafe.
