I don't use shaft brushes, but in high corrosion areas I think they also protect the internals of the transmission from galvanic corrosion by intercepting the current before it gets into the transmission components.

I think Awlgrip can bubble if the wrap is tight up against it. Moisture can get trapped under it. Capt Pat can advise if this is a real concern or not.

Bilgecoat sucks. I tried it 6 years ago and it eventually peeled up in sheets. Bilges are tough on paint. How does Awlgrip do in a bilge that always has some water in it? I would think it would bubble.

John: Glad the POR15 is working for you!! The white hardnose needs two coats to fully cover the green FG. Be sure to put on the second coat within the time window called for so it will chemically bond with the first coat. Have you tried the Marine Clean on chrome yet? You will be amazed. i love that...

Mikey: I think your aftercoolers were replaced by Merritt Foster after they failed on him, weren't they? I seem to remember him suing Cummins over it, and that was the reason he changed over to Yanmars.

Leave them empty and deal with any condensation in the spring!!! I'll take a little water anytime over ethanol damage. The tiny bit of water won't hurt the tank and will be easy to get rid of in the Spring, especially if you fill up with E10.

Knowing where he is located I would say that it was partly a draft issue. Most of those boats in the Outerbanks are single screw diesel with a skeg to protect them from grounding. They tend to be slower though.
