Sound like handy people to have around in an emergency!!! Rags or shirts stuffed in the scuppers can do pretty good job of slowing the watter to a manageable flow.

John: The Groco full port ball valve seacock is the best I've ever seen. Pricey, but excellent. I have one of those and one Apollo (my old standby brand). The Groco is hands down better. West sells them, but they are pricey! I have the SBV. http://www.groco.net/08-CD-BURN/GROCO%20CAT/CAT-BRWSR/sec-4...

Ernest: You might try Labmetal as a filler. it is one part, but seems to be at least equal to epoxy fro filling. They even have a high temp that can be powdercoated. I would at least run a drill bit in any pits to clean out the corrosion.

Timbor or other Borate based product should work well. Mix them with water in a garden sprayer and coat all of the wood. It crystallizes like sugar water on the wood. It also kills rot spores. It is water based, so it will wash off if you hit it directly with water. It is the most environmentally fr...

What they don't say is the increase in fertilizer prices, diesel and other inputs also causes the price of food to rise with or without Ethanol, etc. Not that I'm supporting ethanol, but it is not the sole culprit. The rest of the world will blame the US no matter what the problem or the cause.

Sometimes the zincs will swell as the corrode and won't fit back through the hole. The bronze plug just unscrews off of the zinc. You have to remove the endcap to get them out. Use a smaller zinc if you have this problem.

Some over the road trucks have a self changing oil system that weeps fuel oil into the fuel tank and replaces it with fresh oil from a holding tank. Then of course there were the Detroits, but that was an entirely different self changing mechanism. They put it on the ground for dust control!!
