You are a good man Bob! I cannot imagine your anguish! We are all praying for you and your wife. The only good news is that you will go to your reward with a clean conscience knowing that you did everything humanly possible for her. Keep up the good work. Your friend, Rawleigh.

It could also be sucking air at that joint, there by starving it of cooling water. Is it double clamped with the clamps offset by 180 degrees?

Sounds like a good plan to me as long as you put in enough antifreeze to displace the water so it does not dilute the antifreeze.

That will work if the 30 degree down angle isn't a problem. Here it would cause a freeze issue in the winter. I would think it would an Massachusetts too.

I agree with Carl. Make a fiberglass puck big enough for the thru hull to go through and thick enough to accommodate the 14 degree angle. Drill the hole with hole saw and then saw the puck in two on the 14 degree angle on a table saw. Viola, two 14 degree wedges! paint them before you put them on an...

I usually use two per shaft, spaced fore and aft, a foot or so from the strut and the stuffing box. I figured putting it in the middle was asking for imbalance. The other issue is the more alcohol the leaner the burn. That can be problematic on a boat engine since it is always heavily loaded.

If you know anyone with a borescope that will go through the plug hole you might take a good look inside first and see how badly scored it is. Also they make a Fast Cure version. https://technicaldatasheets.3m.com/en_US?pif=890 And I was in error about what we used. 5200 bracket to boat, 4200 engine to bracket. I don't think I would be afraid of 4200 for both...

Re: Thoughts about a single 250hp outboard on B25?
I concur on not using the 5200 there. If you ever have to take it off it might pull off layers of glass. I think we used 4200 on the Scarab when we mounted the Armstrong bracket 20 years ago and there was no evidence of water intrusion last year when the bracket was removed to prep it for the 300 Su...

Put in the limber holes. Line the holes with PCV pipe so nothing rots. leave the PVC a little long on the bilge side and put a fitting on it so you can install a pipe plug if necessary.
