Has anyone used this paint?

I have to decide which paint i'm going to use to paint the spots I repaired on the hull. The problem is I don't know what paint & color was used previously. I'm assuming its imron from what i've seen so far. I can get this paint at a really good price: http://www.valsparrefinish.com/downloads/Valspa...

Re: Hello again

Hi Tavis, I also live in PR. I believe the 31 you saw on yachtworld is located at Cangrejos Yacht Club, if i'm not mistaken. It's in Isla Verde, just in case you want to drop by for a look. Very nice boat. Keep a lookout on clasificadosonline.com, as micky said. They post a few every now & then. I'm...

Re: Turbos

I'm sure there will be advice from Yannie owners, but how old are the ones you have? Given reading several Yannie Turbo threads, it doesn't sound like longevity is one of their traits. If that is the case, new ones might not be a lifetime investment. Can you rebuild them yourself? Walter, I really ...

Turbos

Ok, Took the turbos to my friend at the Yanmar dealer yesterday for a diagnostic.. As I suspected, the turbine housing is shot from corrosion. He gave two options: 1) change the old turbine housing for a new for about $900+labor. 2) buy new turbos. He offered me two new ones at $1,500 each. I am con...

Re: Let the fun begin!

There is a company in Colorado that sells the brand new complete turbo cores (everything but the housing) for $8 to 900 hundred. Google Yanmar 4LH turbos. May be a better alternative to expensive rebuild. Also, gives you another core for the future. Harry Thanks for the info harry, i'll check it ou...

Re: Shaft and Rudder alignment

Capt Frank.: I believe the owner wanted more space in the cabin, so he moved the rear bulkheads 6" to the stern. I don't agree with his decision, but its his boat. Bob, I'll be sure to give the owner your instructions. I believe that they were still in the alignment phase when i took the picture, so...

Re: Shaft and Rudder alignment

I have a friend whose 4 years into his B31 rebuild. Reman 6BTA 370's mounted 6" further aft. His rudders had to be moved to allow the proper spacing between the shaft & rudder. I guess he is going to have the same problem you guys mentioned because most of the rudder area is behind the transom. Here...

Re: New Bertram owner!

Good observation Mikey,

I have to re-wire the whole grounding system, lotss of broken wires due to corrosion. I think the last owner didn't know what the word "maintenance" meant. I'll be sure to install the new zincs correctly as you stated. (clean bright metal against the zincs)

Thanks!

Re: New Bertram owner!

Frank, thank you for the welcome. I feel right at home already! My original plan was to build a steel frame with adjustable supports and wheels to make bottom painting and moving the boat easier, but given the circumstances (time & $$) I had to go with traditional blocking and jack stands. I think t...

Hi guys, Recently new member to this great site and owner of a 1973 B28!
