I dove a shark dive from Nassua Scuba Center in the Bahamas. Actually paid a hundred dollars to do it. Our dive group observed while a trained diver fed the Reef Sharks. Not threatening at all....but I understand that the Reef Sharks are not very agressive. While diving and before the feeding, I not...

Frank Sounds like possibly the plunger was sticking slightly open. Glad you got it corrected before it caused major problems. When I worked at the Mack Truck dealership in Mobile, standard procedure was to use laping compound to lap in the seating area of the plunger where it sealed on the housing. ...

My uncle served on a PT Boat. I will have to ask him on which hull number he served. I do know that he went to Rhode Island and worked for several weeks on the PT Boat museum. He and I visited there about 10 years ago.....quite impressive. He gets pretty emotional when we talk about the war and his ...

There is a shop in our town called "Paint and Pal". The gist of this shop is that a novist can paint a picture with the help of professional artist. Well last Friday night Paint and Pal had what they call "Date Night". So my daughter and my son in law went out with my son and my daughter in law to P...

Mobile Boat Show
Just thought I would mention that Snookums and I went to the local boat show at the Mobile Convention Center last Friday night. It was the weakest show I have EVER attended. The number of Exibitors was down by my estimate of 40% compared to shows I have attended in the past. I was there from 7:30 to...

Keep us posted.....from my limited experience I think the larger diameter will do you good. A local mechanic repowered a 31 several years ago. He put Big Blocks in and a 2.5:1 or may be a 3:1 gear and proped her with over square wheels 20?x24? as I remember. The owner bragged about how smooth it was...

Frank It sounds like you have covered your bases on checking the gages. The reason that I quesitoned where the engines came from is....my engines on test running show about 10 PSI idling at 180 degrees and about 50 psi running over 1500 RPM at 180 degrees F.....using a manual gage. When I put the en...

Also, Can't I do the aftercooler cleaning myself? Absolutely Mikey....you can do it yourself. Once you remove the cooler from the engine there are 3 bolts that hold the cap onto each end of the housing. My take on your description is that the "Sleeve" that the spring fits into is the "Relief Plunger". It does and could affect oil pressure. I think that pretty much if it sticks full open you will have low oil pressure at idle and if it sticks closed you will have excessive oil pressure at running rp...

Did you also make up stainless rudder ports? Tony I used the original rudder ports. They were worn "Egg Shaped" so we chucked them in a lathe and bored out the fits until they were round. The wear was heavy on one side. The original bore on the bottom was 1.5" and by the time we got it cleaned up a...
