Well it took me a while to find this but here it is I was involved in the repower of some Navy RIB's several years ago. These boats were repowered with the Cummins engines, I think about 200 HP or slightly less, and a Konrad outdrive. I have been looking for this for a couple of weeks now..............

Gear Ratio vs Performance

Hey guys
I will soon repower DeNada with a pair of 300 HP 6BTA's. Today I realized that the gears I have are 1.23:1 ratio. The gears are ZF IRM 220 A............the engines are CPL 970

Anybody have any idea how a 1966 31 Express will perform with these gears when propped correctly???

I have a 66 model Express. DeNada's hull is about 5/8" thick in the strut area and midship near the keel area its more like 3/4" thick and midship just above the chine I drilled and installed a thru hull...........at that point the hull was just under 1/2" thick. I purchased a pair of 6 BTA's 300 HP with ZF 220 gears and gages for $8500. These engines were running but one engine had a dead cylinder. They had 5400 hours on them. I am rebuilding both of them. So far I have spent $6500 on parts and outside labor.
