Your correct Walter, that's exactly what I meant to say. It is rare but I have had a case or two where corrosion built up in the crimped area of the wire connector and would not allow a good connection. Just because it looks good, or just because it is bolted to the engine block does not mean that y...

To tight makes it very difficult to remove. I do not know if there is a recommended torque or not. If your taper fits properly it does not take a lot of torque to secure the prop. Make sure that the key does not interfere with the fit between the prop taper and the shaft taper. Look in the Boat Buil...

Kipp I say go for the 5 Kw. The 3 Kw Westerbeke is not the "Same but smaller" unit as the 5 Kw. There is a reason that its a lot lighter. If you think about it, the difference between the 5 and 3 is only 142 pounds. You may be able to balance out by shuffling other things around....like batterys. On...

Kipp I particularly chose the Westerbeke for a couple of reasons. Rocky If you start rotating, moving or leveling the engines at all you MUST recheck and realign the shafts to the engine. My Bertram is a 1966 Express. Attached are a couple of shots of my setup. The manifolds were close but no rub. My sweeps are a single wall 316 SS pipe with a shower head connection where the pipe meets the fiberglass "Y" pipe.
That's why I really need to insulate.
