Re: Termite damage
Not sure if this helps or not On my 38 the bottom of the rear bulkhead was rotted cut out the bad bulkhead and the sill. Dug out as much rotted wood as I could and filled with a mixture of glass and filler and epoxy. Glassed all the way to the top and capped it with teak and repaired rear bulkhead. ...

Re: 38 bertram bulkhead removal
Thank you for the advice I am in Florida now looking to see how the fly bridge comes off I’m thinking of shipping the boat back to NJ. I think it would be easier for me having the boat close to me rather than 1000 miles away. Just trying to weigh out all options. Bob once again wishing you wife a sp...

Re: 38 bertram bulkhead removal
Bob, Were you able to take it out in one piece or did you have to cut it out. How are the sides and top do they fit into a channel I know how the bottom is configured because I already did some repairs. The bottom was rotted pretty good. Do you have any pictures? Were you able to use the same shafts...

38 bertram bulkhead removal
I have a 1984 38 Bertram with 3208 troubles. I am considering repowering with Cummins 480 QSB. For ease of removal and install I would like to remove rear bulkhead, which is not in great shape anyway. Has anyone done this or have any advice. I think that Bob repowered a 38 in NJ with Cats.? Thanks A...

Re: HELP-Yanmar 4LHA-STP Black Smoke/Slow Acceleration
I had the same problem I tried several things I have had the same props on since I repowered finally I went to a smaller prop and the problem got better but was still there.I think that I only masked the problem with the smaller wheels. Finally I put on two new turbos and my problem was solved the s...

Brian What kind of speed do you get with the Cummins? Did you glue the teak and holly over the old plywood?

Re: 38 Bertram aux fuel tank

38 Bertram aux fuel tank
I have a 1984 38 Bertram It has the standard fiberglass tank and a 100 gal aluminum water tank. Would it be possible to convert the water tank to a fuel tank. Has anyone done this and is it an option. The water tank is located in the rear cockpit behind the main fuel tank. Any ideas? Anthony

Re: 31' Bertram--Need help w/ Yanmar 4LHA-STP Issues

Could not make full rpm on port side I swapped props went from 20x20 4 blade with cup to 20x20 3 blade and all problems seemed to go away I still have black exhaust water on the port s...

Re: Yanmar 230 hp Trouble
Thank you for all the help What I did do was swap the turbos to see if the problem followed it did not. I swapped the props put on 20x20 3 blade. I was able to reach 3400+ on each motor and cleared up much of the smoke. I was running 20x20 4blade with cup. port would turn 3400 and stbd turn 3000 whi...

Yanmar 230 hp Trouble
I have yanmar 230 in my 31 express they have been in about 10 years with little trouble. Now port engine smokes heavy black smoke above 2200 rpm and will not reach full rpm only gets 3000. I pulled the injectors and had them checked and there is plenty of boost. I think it may be a fuel problem some...
