Those red throttle arms have extensions on them that might be hard to remove. I was told Charman Enterprises bought all of Morse's inventory when they were bought by Teleflex, and would be the best (and perhaps only) place to find replacements.

I have the exact same ones and You can take the cover (hood) off as well as the arms and have them chromed. Then just reassemble. The "Guts" can stay where they are. Just mark what goes with what and keep everything in a similar position as it will be a while before you'll get the chromed parts back...

Take a look at the arms. Mine have a piece below the red/black knobs that are removable. I discovered that when I was replacing the knobs and when unthreading them, one of the extensions threaded off with the knob. I always thought the arms were one-piecers. Mine aren't.

I don't know how that self contained steam motor works, but if it can give an airplane a 400 mi range on 10 gallons of water, I'd think it might work great in a car. Quiet, too? Whooo-hoo!

I agree with you that the redo done the way it was, left no room for hull flexing.
