I have the exact same ones and You can take the cover (hood) off as well as the arms and have them chromed. Then just reassemble. The "Guts" can stay where they are. Just mark what goes with what and keep everything in a similar position as it will be a while before you'll get the chromed parts back...

Try a cup of Kosher salt, A cup of light brown sugar (or dark), two cups of water, a bay leaf or two, a liberal amount of garlic powder, ground black pepper and a sprinkling of pickling spices (purchased in the spices area in your local supermarket). I sometimes also throw in a shot of Bourbon. Stir...

Mike- Although I am sure your family wishes it never happened, It's one helluva way to start the new year! The successful surgery gives her a bunch more new years celebrations instead of a ticking time bomb! Our best wishes for a speedy recovery. Everyone can bitch about American Healthcare, but the...

You want to watch a cockpit crew work as a team? Go fly fishing for Pacific Sailfish at Tropic Star or Guatemala. These guys troll hookless baits and tease the fish right up to the transom so you can cast to them. They ask whether you're right or left handed when they set out the teaser baits and ou...

Bravo Wilson! I'll bet they could get them made much cheaper in China. What and where would those people who have worked there for so many years go? Who would employ them, and where? What is missing today is Corporate Conscience, and it seems Wilson has it! Buy American, even if it costs more! Not d...

The poor guy was whipped out of his seat. Nothing short of a seat belt would have kept him there. The only one hurt was him. Let him rest in peace. Think back and every one of us who have run our boats back in rough water have experienced a situation that could have ended in tragedy. Who is suing?.....

Two different rudders don't help handling. I would like to hear what others think about my theory that two different length shafts could also create a vibration. My question is, are the shafts different lengths or are the engines mounted in different positions on each side? The distance the forward ...

My thoughts completely. The boat looks very well maintained. The prop can of course create vibrations. So can a bad cutlass bearing. I wouldn't pull off a pair of shafts without doing those first. Rudders? That's an improvement fairly easily made and you'll be glad you did. Your first season of runn...

Times and rules have certainly changed. Back in the 90's, I did all the advertising and promotions for the Cayman Islands. Every June, for about 5-6 years, the FAA combined with the Coast Guard would hold an "Air Safety Week" there. The "Blue Angels" would come in to do an air show on one of those d...

Yes, but that's what made it immovable. A sharp flex caused by coming off a wave has nowhere to go except crack at the weakest joint. I have a Sportsfisherman and some winters if she's not blocked up perfectly, midships cabinet doors really stick. In Spring, in the water they're perfect. Before gett...

I agree with you that the redo done the way it was, left no room for hull flexing. I would not have a repair made to have it look the same way, ie: filling, fairing and painting, because in my opinion it would be a set-up for having the same thing happen again. Short of doing what one of our brether...

Tailhook Tom- Please send me your mailing address. The books are usually sent at the Post Offices Book Rate as it is the least expensive way to send them.
