I've done some photography of jet airliners taking off. Also got misted lenses (and me) and a bit fuel smelly. Weren't military fighter planes though. Maybe different fuel.

Dug- Back when I was President of the Art Director's Club I had one of our Annual Awards Dinners on the Intrepid. Having cocktails on the flight deck on a June evening in black tie was a very special experience. It was one of our best attended dinners.

Peter- that's a new model (and bigger, I think) that I haven't seen. There was a 42 footer in Montauk I had seen that was very much a longer, wider B-31. Similar accessible outside engine hatches, etc. Low hull profile. Beautiful.

He told me they weren't scared when they jumped over Normandy. When they had to make their second jump in Holland, they were all scared stiff. They knew it wasn't fun and games any more. Normandy was very sobering.

My ex-boss/buddy was in Easy Company under Winters. He died several years ago before all the Band of Brothers notoriety. I found out his military history by reading the book after he died. What a special bunch of men.
