70 Knot Charterboat

The latest issue of The Fisherman has an ad in it for a charter boat out of New Bedford Mass. named the Onset Chief Express. It's a 38 ft Fountain Tournament Center Console powered by four 300 hp outboards. The ad says it's the "World's Fastest Offshore Charter Boat! She cruises at 70 loaded, top en...

The boat has to be a Sportsfisherman that had the lower stations seat removed, cabinets built and a standup head built on the starboard side where the Flybridge cruiser has it. The engine experts will have to come in on what those Cummins are. Wish they had taken better care of them.

I agree the Cam Seiglers with the heavy lower sections and the fast tip (almost the same leverage concept as standup rods) are no fun to cast, but offshore where you're teasing/chumming fish up close, casting is nowhere near the issue as it is with 8-9-10 weights. Still, it's nice to have if you can...

They changed the rules in NY at least. You're in a NY slip for over 30 (?) days and you have to have a NY state registration no matter where you're from or where you bought it. That comes with an 8.25% tax on what you payed for it the last time I looked.
