My 64 Sportsfisherman has never had a transom zinc in all these years and I have always been in a marina where everyone has their boats plugged in. If the zincs you presently are using seem to be doing the job, I can't see why you'd need another one, and the annual expense that goes with it. Smarter...

Mother's Day Cookbooks

Mother's Day is around the corner, and I'm not suggesting that my cookbook is enough of a gift for your Mom or Bride, but it might be a nice add-on, especially if it's personalized for them. Same deal as Christmas. $10.00 per book goes to the site. The books are $24.95 plus postage. Christmas sales ...

I liked it the way it was back in the 50's and 60's off Montauk. You'd go offshore trolling for Tuna, but would always have a big sewed up squid on ice connected to a big 80-130 rod and reel. A sunning Swordfish on top would create chaos as all lines were bought in, the squid thrown overboard and th...

It ain't funny. Given the price of fuel right now, a local bottom fishing trip will cost me what an all day offshore trip trolling all day used to cost me. At this rate, I may have to give this all up and fly fish from my 16' skiff.

Bob- I'm afraid it's going to take a loss of life before it gets a higher priority than it has now. They have no sympathy for boat guys who burn fuel to go out and have fun. Even Montauk inlet has shoaled up enough that the draggers etc have to come in on a high tide and nothing is moving to fix it.

Usually those fully automatic ones have a detachable plastic base that allows you to remove the pump for cleaning or repair. If you have a dry spot you can probably 5100 it to the hull. Don't use 5200 or you'll have to chisel it off when you want (if ever) to remove it.
