I had the built in self draining ice box in my 31 Sportsfisherman for over 20 years. Never kept the icebox's interior in great shape and didn't know it was driving my wife nuts. I caught her having telephone conversations with my marina's buyer and found out she was going to "surprise" me by having ...

David- There are a lot of good battery chargers out there now. Most all are solid state. If you have no plans to make any major changes on your boat ie: conversion to diesel, adding a fridge, air conditioning, another bank of batteries, etc. you have a world of good name solid state battery chargers...

Steve- From the pictures I did not see a standup head on the starboard side. If the head is in the V-berth area with just a covered toilet and cushioned cover, it's a Sportsfisherman. If there IS a standup head, it's either been put in by a previous owner or your boat is a hybrid of sorts. I'll look...

Neil- Patrick is correct. We filled up a whole finger dock on both sides and then some. After reading her letter I found the prices for dockage and the dinner were considerably higher by almost double. All were negotiated down by Dug and Bob Fiorese if I am not mistaken. They've asked top dollar. Le...

Absolutely the best product you can use for most anything. It comes in aerosol and liquid in a red and blue formula. You can buy it directly from Uncle Vic. I use the red formula (thinner of the two). Vic uses the liquid mixed 50-50 in a spray bottle with lacquer thinner (I think) or acetone. I've a...

There is a cap that replaces the normal raw water intake cover that has a hose fitting and shutoff vave on it. I purchased one to use for winterizing. I take off the raw water top, clean the screen and put on this cover instead, Close the boat's intake, take a bucket of anti freeze, put a hose on th...

Try http://www.californiaclassicboats.com/ and look undes ChrisCraft deck vents #CC151. The picture looks exactly like it plus the dimensions. They are very expensive and makes me wonder if it might be cheaper to cast from one of your other ones and chrome plate it. Walter

I think your theory on cupping is incorrect. I have 210 Cummins 6BT's that I wanted to keep the slow side slow for trolling and docking so I kept the pitch down and added cupping. 6BT's WOT is 2650 and cruise at 2400. The cupping added 1.5-2 kts at cruise so I know: 1 it works on the high end, 2. Th...

All it takes is a hairline crack in the Racor bowl to have that overnight flowback take place. John- Make sure to check out launching ramp requirements, especially town ramps. Some have fees which are fine as long as theres a place that's open to to pay them when you want to launch. The ones to worry about are the ramps that require a resident sticker on your car. East Hampton's rules at the ...

It's been quite wierd. I have a weather radio in my bathroom so I listen to the predictions every am. On those extremely windy days last week, I went to check my skiff at low tide and the water was as high as a normal high tide. The ramp to the floating dockwas actually straight across at dead low. ...

All I've learned from this site about 31's and speed tells me that if this boat does what it says, it should have prop pockets cut into it's stern. 400 hp is overkill as the boat's safe max is in the 30-35 kt speed and the 315-330 HP Cummins probably would give you that at WOT. I have two personal f...

If you can find cans of clear anti fouling spray paint, it works real good. It was taken off the market because of new environmental laws but stores that had them were allowed to sell their stocks. Lets see. White is neutral, Black is current/power, green is ground. You have not changed anything in the wiring to the boat, charger or the house (source) and bam all of a sudden a reverse polarity light goes on. It was working perfectly before. Your home/source plug is a two pronger without a thir...

First get a cheap polarity tester and go to the plg you're plugged into. If the polarity there is correct, unplug the extension cord from the charger and check the polarity out of your extension cord. If that's OK, move on to the on-board input recepticle. Look behind it. On mine, the polarity check...

Notice the Iowa response...they don't care and will dispense it anyway. I've said it before and I'll say it again...It will take someone getting killed before these cornheads are slowed down. Generally speaking I find winterizing diesels easier than gassers. In both cases change your oil and oil filters before hauling. Fill your tanks and add Stabil in the amount prescribed for your tank size. Check the strength of your ant- freeze and run non-toxic anti freeze through the engine till it...
